Most garden maintenance is tidying. Ours is not, or not only. We work to pruning schedules based on what each plant actually is, we watch for pests and disease before they take hold, and we adjust what we do as the garden matures.
The word we use is management rather than maintenance, because a garden that is only maintained stays still. One that is managed keeps developing.

- Thorough seasonal clearance and tidy-ups
- Jet washing for hard surfaces
- Strict tool hygiene between gardens to avoid spreading disease
That last one sounds fussy. Rust, black spot, honey fungus and blight all travel between gardens on dirty blades, so we clean ours properly rather than occasionally.
